I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it.  You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next.  You learn to make each day count.

You can close your eyes to the things you don't want to see but you can't close your heart to the things you don't want to feel.

You know my paper heart
The one I filled with pencil marks
I think I might’ve gone and inked you in

The Principle Of The First

Matthew 6:33

Your spiritual walk with God.  Your church.  Are those important priorities in you life?  If God is first in your life all other things will come into order.  If God is not first then everything else will fall into disorder.  Everything should be in order the way God designed it.  You’ve got to keep the main thing the main thing.

Matthew 6:19-21

What is the that you wake up every single day dreaming of?  If you find something that you love to do then you will never work a day in your life.  Be careful who you share your dream with.  It was Joseph’s brothers that threw him into the pit.  It’s your praise!  It’s your worship!  You can have that thing you’re dreaming about.  You can tell a lot about a person’s heart by looking at their checkbook.  God’s not against you having things.  He just don’t want things having you.

1 Kings 17:8-15

He asked for 10% of your income but 100% of your devotion.  It always comes down to fear vs. faith.  Just like the Holy Ghost is the anointing of God, fear is the anointing of Satan.  And Satan wants to keep his people in a gridlock of fear.  The church was never designed to be selfish.  The church was designed to reach out.  When God starts releasing the blessings, it will run over!

There Is Hope!

God is able to give you a fresh start!  He’s still in the business of the impossible.  Quit listening to the negative things people say.  Get into the Word.  Nothing but the blood can give us hope.  Don’t listen to what man says.  There are “church people” and then there are blood bought children of the king!
(Sermon Notes - Rev. Brad Stevens - Preached 8/19/07)

Follow Jesus' Example

    1. Focus on the little things God wants you to do and the big things will fall into place.
    2. Pray through every decision and keep praying until you have peace.
    3. God gives you peace when you’re doing what He wants.  The world may be raging around you, but you will have peace when you are doing God’s will.
    4. Make sure that what you think God wants you to do lines up with His Word in all areas.
    5. You don’t have to know the whole plan to be faithful in what God wants you to do today.  Sometimes things don’t  fall in place the way you expect them too.  But, that’s okay because you know God is in control and is doing what needs to be done.
    6. What God wants you to do will point to Jesus and bring honor to the Father.
    7. God is able to communicate to you what He wants you to do but, you need to make sure you’re listening.
    8. Sometimes completing the work God wants you to do doesn’t look like “winning” in the eyes of the world.
Bring joy to the Father by following Jesus’ example and make every effort to complete the work God has for you.

20/20 Vision: Our Eyes Are Upon You

2 Chronicles 20:20
God wants us to prosper and God wants us to be blessed.  Our lives can be settled on a solid foundation - GOD.  God wants a deeper relationship than what’s on the surface.  In our lives there are times we don’t know what to do but we must keep our eyes upon the Lord.  If we do, the outcome will be so much better!  Have a greater desire and a greater vision.
2 Chronicles 20:3
God wants us to be established.  We have to make up our mind that we are going to see the Lord.  Seek something better than the things of this world.  Hide the Word in your heart and it will correct your vision.  Our intentions in seeking God need to be sincere.  Seek the Lord. Fast. Pray.  Turn your eyes upon Jesus!

All those times you worried. All those moments you dreaded. All those days you feared. Yet here you are... safe & sound & through the storm.

Don't Let Your Passion Die

1 Peter 2:1-10
He is precious.  He is more than a name.  Precious - something of high or great value; highly esteemed.  We should show Him reverence in the things that we do.  To those who don’t believe, they get highly offended.  We need to be reminded that we are the Children of God.
(Sermon Notes - Rev. Brad Stevens - 1/11/12)

I don't regret the things I've done, I regret the things I didn't do when I had a chance.

The Old Paths

Jeremiah 6:15-17

We have to take heed to the Word of God.  Men in the Old Testament had such zeal and passion for God.  We’re not willing to give what we need to give like those that were on the old paths.  There’s a price that has to be paid before your sons and daughters begin to prophecy.  You’ve got to rend your hearts before the Lord.  God has to break you and give you His heart.  You can go to church all your life and live in complete bondage.  It’s never God’s will for His people to remain under bondage.  Weep, mourn and wail before God.  Getting in the Word.  Fasting.  Praying.  It’s the old path.  We have to fight spiritually.

Jesus: The Rebuilder of Our Broken and Shattered Lives

Nehemiah 1:1-4
Jesus is the only one who can put the broken back together.  We need to be praying for God’s blessing and favor more than ever.  It takes much prayer and fasting.  People’s lives are shattered.  They need a wall of the spirit of the Lord around them.  We, as the people of God, have  a great job ahead of us to reach a lost and dying world.  God has placed us here and we have a responsibility to this place.  God wants us to always pray for favor over our lives and our families.  We are the men and women of God.  We need to live in a way that when we call out to God He will answer us and grant us mercy.  Sometimes we fail to recognize how blessed we are.  We are here because of God’s great grace and mercy.  When we pray for favor and blessings and God begins to move, the enemy gets nervous.  If you’ll get serious with God, He will move you in the right direction.  The grass is not always greener on the other side.  It’s important that we pray and seek God for EVERYTHING in our lives.  Pray for the favor of God over yourself as a person and pray for God’s favor over us with other people.  Where there is no vision, the people will perish.  God will go before us in our lives and make a way when there seemeth to be no way.  The devil gets tore up when the hand of God begins to move.  We need to call out to God and work and pray like never before.
(Sermon Notes - Rev. Joey Burns - Preached 12/12/11)

To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.

It is easy to sit back & let the world define who you are. It is difficult to stand up & define who you are to the world. Do not be denied.

The Light

John 1:4-5

Whenever things around you get dark and you feel the devil is about to overpower you, remember this: You have the Light of the world in you, and try as they may all the forces of hell can’t put it out!  Even when you’re are your weakest, even when you feel like the light within you is small, the devil’s darkness is no match for you.  Let me show you what I mean.  Imagine for a moment that you’re in a large auditorium that has no windows or doors to let in outside light.  The place is so black that you can’t see anything, not even your hand in front of your face.  There’s nothing around you but complete darkness.  Now, imagine one little lightning but flying around that auditorium.  Every eye in there would turn toward it.  As small as that light is in comparison to the great darkness around it, you would still be able to see it.  That massive blackness wouldn’t be able to do a thing to shut off that bug.  Everywhere he flew, the darkness would just have to yield.  It would always be dispelled by his light.  When the circumstances around you begin to get black and you’re tempted to despair, think about that lightning bug.  Meditate on the fact that Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, is in you.  When the revelation of that hits you, you’ll never again let that darkness back you into a corner.  You’ll start chasing it down, overcoming it with your light!!

This is me when the alarm goes off every morning........

The damage done to yourself by being stressed about things, is usually worse than the damage done by the very things you are stressed about!
