I guess everyone has their reasons for keeping people away, an instinct to protect yourself from getting hurt. It's part of human nature.

Revelation 3:1 - 6

Be watchful!  There’s coming a day when no man will be able to hide.  That day is the coming of Jesus.  It is possible for a person to sit in a church where the Spirit of God moves freely and be in a backslidden condition.  The only thing that can protect you is the blood of Jesus.  What we need is friendship with God.  God knows the difference between fake and real.  Between spiritual and formality.  Anybody can be ready for a fixed hour but not many for the hour which no one knows.  There’s times in our lives that we have to put things in perspective.  Have you left your first love?  Don’t be caught up in the trap of the enemy when Jesus comes back.  How do you know if you’ve lost your first love?  You lose the love/anticipation of going to the House of God.  Every single day there should be spiritual growth.  PRAY!  Come to the house of God!  Read God’s Word.  Don’t become lukewarm.  Put a little action behind the faith.

James 1:21

Do what the Word says!  Keep yourself unspotted from the world.  Life as we know it is going to come to an end soon.  What would it be like to hear the Lord say, “depart from me”?  Practice what you preach!

Never fear the shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining nearby.

Untitled Sermon

Genesis 35:1 - 7; 9 - 10
God is doing something supernatural in our lives.  You don’t feel Him like you used too?  Get reacquainted.  God is awakening us to a new reality of who He is.  God doesn’t want us to conform to the world.  Arise to the place God wants you to be.  God wants to radically change our lives so we can reach out to a lost and dying world.  Everything that happens will be according to the will of God.  Nothing happens that God doesn’t know about.  When I get up in the morning I am going to be looking and listening for Jesus.  I want to hear Him as He speaks to me.  God is calling.  It’s up to you and I to respond.  God is challenging us to respond to the challenge He has laid before us.  Wake up!  We’ve been sleeping long enough!  What this world needs is a fresh anointing!!  You better come to an altar of prayer if you’re fitting to the form of the world.  A form of godliness will kill you.  The miracle working power is what will change the world.
1 Peter 4:17
2 Chronicles 7:14
The judgment of God will come upon us if we walk away from what He has before us.
(Sermon Notes - Rev. Joey Burns 2/17/08)

Sometimes you climb out of bed in the morning and you think, I’m not going to make it, but you laugh inside — remembering all the times you’ve felt that way.

Romans 12:2

Living in victory means that sometimes you have to develop new habits.  If you’ve been negative for a long time you’ve got to re-train your thinking from “it won’t happen” to “it will happen”.  From “I’ll never get well” to “God is restoring health unto me”.  From “I never get any good breaks” to “God’s favor surrounds me like a shield”.  From “I’ve made too many mistakes.  I’m all washed up” to “I’m redeemed and forgiven.  My best days are still out in front of me.”  It’s like re-programming a computer.  Sometimes you have to wipe off the old, outdated, dysfunctional software and load in something new.  If you’ve spent your days focused on how things won’t work, it’s time to focus on how things will work out.  It doesn’t matter how bad it looks, how many people have told you no or how long it’s been that way.  God has the final say.  It’s not over until God says it’s over.  Shake off the self pity.  Shake off the disappointment.  Let go of the old and choose to believe Him.  Declare His promises over your life and see His blessings and victory as you align yourself with Him.

Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Untitled Sermon

1 Timothy 4:11-14

Stand firm on what you are taught by God.  Everybody has been gifted of the Lord.  These gifts are not to be used for a “look at me” attitude.  So many people have the Pharisee curse.  So many people have been called by God but have got caught up in the yoke of the enemy.  Yoke- something that binds.

2 Timothy 1:6

You have to pray.  Get in the Word of God.  Fast.  Stir up the gift.  Quit letting the devil yoke you!  God will equip you with what is needed to do what He calls you to do.  The first thing the enemy will try to yoke you with is fear.  Know God has given you the power to overcome the enemy.  If we commit to Him what He gives us He will keep us.  We are not gifted to be afraid of the enemy.  Our gifts are given to serve others.  If you don’t use what God gives you, He will give it to someone else.  Don’t be afraid of what the enemy might say.  The skeptics don’t anoint you.

1 Corinthians 12:8-11

Don’t settle down in the bottom.  Stir it up.  Things will move.  People’s lives will change.  Any gift you has is from God.

“Stir up the power!  Be released by my power!  I have anointed you not to sit still.  Move in my anointing.  Move in my spirit.  Stir yourself up in your pure minds.  I’ll never let you go.” - Holy Ghost

The devil has NO power and authority over me!

You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you.

Untitled Sermon

Ezekial 37:1-6

Dry bones- God’s example of the House of Israel at the time.  They needed revived, refreshed and lifted up.  We should live our lives with a revival spirit in our hearts.  Revival gives us a renewed desire to serve God.  It will bring forgiveness to us.  We will live in newness and hope.  There are things you have to do to keep the fire burning.  Shake it loose!  Put a fresh coal on the fire.  If you live in revival every day you’ll come into the House of God ready to worship.  We know within ourselves if we are living in revival or going through the motions.  Hearing the Word of God preached will cause you to come alive.  God’s not dead at my church!  I’ve already seen His tracks!  Don’t be just a hearer but a doer also.  Be ready for what you may be called to do in a service.  In the church house there has to be unity.  One mind.  One accord.  The Word of God will cause the body of Christ to be unified.  God’s not calling the church to separate and divide.  Unify!  God has got you right where you need to be.  The church needs to operate in the supernatural spirit of God.  Operating in the flesh will only frustrate you.  God wants us to be known separate from this world.  He will give you life!

Ezekial 37:7
(Sermon Notes - Rev. Joey Burns - Preached 2/10/08)

I won’t stick around to see how much temptation I can take. God is not impressed with my ability to stand up to sin. He is more impressed by the obedience I show when I run from it.

Busting Through Enemy Lines

1 Samuel 17

There is a Spiritual battle set before us - it is not of the flesh.  There are times we must take the initiative and move forward.  I serve a God that’s already won my battle!  We must be willing to put on our armor, bust through enemy lines and win!  Concentrate and focus on God.  We look at what we can see on the outside of the Spirit realm.

1 Samuel 17:11

Have you ever felt challenged by the devil?  Take it back!  Just maybe things happen because we don’t battle with the real enemy.  We are dealing with a generation who are having babies, going through life with their hand in every kind of abomination there is.  We live in a time when parents go to church without bringing their kids.  Hence, the enemy comes in.  Rebellion - refusing to submit to authority.  We need to take more seriously the things that the enemy is trying to steal.  Fornication, drugs and alcohol have invaded our families because of our inconsistencies.

Luke 4:4

Are you afraid of being rejected?  Jesus was rejected.

Luke 4:34-35

When we are confronted with the enemy we must not be afraid.  It’s the enemy who’s handing out drugs, alcohol, pornography, sexual immorality.  The devil wants to hurt you.  He wants to hurt your family and snatch them away from you.  We have the ability!  We must move and speak with power!  You need to stop looking at your situation through the eyes of flesh.  Who is that giant in front of you?  Who is that devil in front of you?  He CAN’T win!  We’ve got to be willing to take one step forward.  When we see the signs - instead of violently taking it, we turn our backs and allow the enemy to take it.  DECLARE WAR!!  We’ve allowed the enemy to draw the lines for too long!  We have to be willing to stand our ground!  We are equipped with the power of God.  We must have courage!  I COME BEFORE YOU IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!!
