Luke 8:4-8
Many never mature in their walk with God.
James 1:21-25
We have got to be doers of the Word of God!
1. Fell by the wayside - trodden down. So many people set in the house of God and not even respond. The one who has let situations make his heart hard and won’t let God in. When the heart is hard, the Word never gets in there. The kind of people who aren’t effected by hearing the Word of God preached. Some have let Satan move in and devour what God has spoken.
2. The rock or the stony ground. They which, when they hear, receive joy but have no root. In temptation they fall away. A person who is emotionally touched, but when that feeling goes away, so does the faith. The Word quickly vanishes away. Below the emotions is a stubborned willed person who has no room for God. When the time of testing comes, they are gone. People looking for a crutch instead of a commitment.
“Jesus is not an accessory.” - Clay M. Bishop III
You can’t have one eye on Jesus and one eye on the world. Fall away - desert, depart, refrain or withdraw themselves.
3. Among the thorns - they that are choked with the things of life and bare no fruit. They that are distracted. If you don’t bare fruit, there are too many works of the flesh choking it out. The person who comes to church when it’s convenient. Who puts recreation and material goods in front of worshiping God. The person who goes through the motions but never experiences the power of God.
