Patience

"Patience is a virtue." But, what exactly is patience? For the Christian, patience is more than merely waiting for something to occur; it's waiting coupled with the right heart attitude - a conscious belief that God is working out His purpose in our lives, no matter how immediate circumstances appear. Sure, it's easier said than done but developing patience is one of the best investments you'll ever make in yourself.

Proverbs 16:32 - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Hebrews 6:15 - And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

I choose patience. I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I'll invite him to do so. Rather than complain that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray.

Psalm 37:7-9 - Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Ephesians 4:2 - With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Psalm 40:1 - I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

James 1:3-4 - Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Revelation 14:12 - Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Romans 12:12 - Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Ecclesiastes 7:8 - Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Proverbs 19:11 - The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Proverbs 14:29 - He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

James 5:7-8 - Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Psalm 27:14 - Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
